Bush Scandals List

187. Deregulation of energy companies

The Public Utilities Holding Company Act of 1935 is one of those acts which no one has ever heard of and since its repeal which went into effect on February 8, 2006 in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 it is likely no one ever will. PUHCA kept regulated energy companies from moving into unregulated businesses and so placed limits on their size, activities, and abilities to manipulate markets.
